Concept & Execution
April explores the fluidity of memory and reality.

Nodular set elements and adaptive lighting were used to reflect the protagonist’s shifting emotions. In both my roles as designer and performer, I attempted to create dynamics that evolved organically with the narrative.

The set featured movable structures and layered fabrics, allowing for seamless scene transitions. This was intended to create a sense of confinement and uncertainty. Lighting was designed scene-by-scene, reacting to emotional beats rather than adhering to rigid presets. Warm, dim glows highlighted intimate moments, while shifts to stark, cold light emphasized emotional disconnection.

Problem Solving & Adaptation
Balancing performance and technical execution was a challenge. To maintain visual consistency while acting, I pre-programmed lighting cues, mapped-out the space, and crafted a self-contained, responsive space that adapted fluidly to movement.

Final Impact
This integration of performance and design was intended to blur the boundary between physical space and emotion, immersing the audience in the protagonist’s perspective. April deployed the power of light and space as storytelling tools, attempting to create an experience that was both visually dynamic and deeply personal.
