Lighting Designer & Performer: Sheron Luo

An immersive performance exploring transformation and fluidity, The River Project blended structured improvisation with dynamic lighting to shape an ever-evolving environment.

Deep blue and violet hues were used in an attempt to generate a sense of submersion. The shifting contrasts of warm and cool tones depicted moments of tension and release. Light adapted to movement, emphasizing the interplay between control and surrender. Shadows and silhouettes against the walls were intended to add depth, mirroring the unpredictability of water.

As both lighting designer and performer, I used illumination to sculpt space, guiding the audience’s perception and enhancing the ephemeral nature of the piece. I was seeking a visually fluid, immersive atmosphere that deepened the work’s emotional impact.
